Day At The Fair

It’s been awhile since we attended the County Fair.

I did not partake in the deep-fried Oreo. Although I witnessed it. Predictably it is served on a stick.

After reviewing the judgement of the baked goods and garden produce I think I am going to have to trouble myself next year to enter the competition.

Plymouth Rock
Cute chicks

Judging of the wascally wabbits

Dairy Grand Champion

Swine

Children take a great deal of pride in their calves

Children and sheep (your dose of weekly cuteness)

Blue ribbon winner and largest kohlrabi on the peninsula

And there were racing pigs

Along with dock-diving dogs

Door County Fair

Some snapshots from the Door County Fair yesterday.

A word about the Best of Show Kraut that you see here.  I think my kraut is superior to this kraut.  Same for my dilled green beans, bread and butter pickles, dill pickles, Polish dill pickles, rhubarb chutney, my apple sauce, tomato juice, salsa and corn relish.  Don't even get me started on the fresh vegetables.

The Frau and I used this opportunity to  perform a scouting  mission and take extensive notes about what we will enter in the County Fair competition next year.

Maybe even mom's ancestral cranberry bread recipe...
