Billboard Twist

Messages on the side of the road have ranged from the historical humor of Burma-Shave, to modern safety warnings to Buckle-Up, Don't Text and Drive and Hands-Free Phone Use Only in Construction Zones.  There has even been spiritual guidance drawing on scripture to be attentive and show kindness to others on their journey.

Nowadays a trip on any stretch of Highway 29 is dominated by a couple of personal injury lawyers.  You know who.

On the trip home from a South Dakota pheasant hunting trip there was this breath of fresh air....

State Highway 29 just east of Thorp; That's between the Wisconsin cities of Chippewa Falls and Wausau.

Happy Motoring....

Butt Ugly

As a general rule Tesla vehicles are quite stylish and sporty.  Not so much the Cyber Truck.

While the technology and innovation is first-rate; the styling is a failure.

Backside of one running down the road.

Butt ugly.

Center of Attention

If you are geographically-inclined you might know that there are four points on the world that are halfway between the geographic poles, the equator, the Prime Meridian and the 180th meridian.  They are known as 45x90 points.

Two of the points are situated in the middle of the ocean with the other two found on land.  The first point on land is situated in a remote, mountainous region of China adjacent to Mongolia and is quite difficult to visit.

The second point on land is found here in Wisconsin.  Yup; we're the center of the world and thus the center of attention.  Located just west of Wausau in the middle of a farm field in Poniatowski is the geographic intersection of the 45 north parallel and the 90 west parallel.

If you're passing thru the Wausau area and the weather is favorable you might want to pay a call so you can tic it off your bucket list.  Poniatowski is an exceedingly small unincorporated town named after a Polish general

In recent years everything was updated by volunteers and business contributors.  The area was resurveyed, a path constructed, benches placed along with signage and an official geographical marker embedded in concrete.

So if your looking for an excuse for a road trip now you got one.  There is no restroom facility.

Learn more about it here

The Taco Revolution

Back in the 1970s I used to help-out my buddy who managed one of the earliest Taco Bell locations in Milwaukee.  East side of Appleton Avenue - north of Capitol Drive.

For those who work the drive-thru at Taco Bell.

The struggle is real.....

Scatological Humor

If you have a septic system which has to be serviced at three year intervals you can appreciate this.  It seems that in the septic sucking world most haulers strive to add some humor to their turd tankers.

Making Hay

I think these are the larger 8’x4’x3’ bales.

In the English countryside of Wiltshire County west of Amesbury you will find Stonehenge.

In the Wisconsin countryside of Door County south of Brussels you will find Balehenge.....
