Nobody Here But Us Chickens

Kentucky Fried Chicken ran out of chicken in the United Kingdom over the weekend forcing them to temporarily close most of their stores.   A few restaurants were continuing to offer a limited menu during shortened business hours; yet the chicken delivery problem is so severe that the company cannot say when operations will be back to normal.

It’s not like there are no chickens to be had as there is plenty of chicken.  The issue is getting the chicken to the outlets that prepare it for consumption and sale.   Logistics firm - DHL - which took over deliveries for KFC recently - told Mirror Online: “Due to operational issues a number of deliveries in recent days have been incomplete or delayed”.

While you wait you can learn more about the bottle neck here.

Sic Semper Tyrannis

As a casual observer to the manure storm Oscar Munoz (United Airlines CEO) created with his tone-deaf and continually-evolving non-apology, now-apology, for dragging a booked, paid and seated customer off of an aircraft I will make only one observation.  Maybe two.

I am exceedingly disturbed by the use of law enforcement personnel to enforce United Airlines policy.  The passenger did not pose a threat to the passengers or aircraft and broke no laws.  The officers should have simply informed United that there was no law enforcement issue at hand, that this was an airline policy matter and politely vacated the aircraft.  Instead, they acted as bouncers and enforcers for what should have remained a seemingly benign matter.

I have some advice for Munoz - if you want to seat a deadhead crew in lieu of paying customers you simply have to free-up the necessary seats by upping the ante for the privilege.  Raise the bid price so to speak.  Suck it up.  UAL can pay the freight.  Capitalism works most of the time you know.

And for anyone holding out the false hope that a boycott of United Airlines is going to change their behavior - fuggetaboutit.  With only a handful of airlines dominating the major routes that is simply impossible.  Wishful thinking.  A good YouTube video, Facebook posting or twitter storm yields better and fast results - particularly if you lose market cap in the process.

Flying sucks nowadays as it is.  This goon squad thuggery simply rubs salt in the wounds.  A good beat-down on social media hurts.  Particularly since the SCOTUS has ruled that corporations are the same as living, breathing people...

The Non-Apology Apology

From the Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte to presidential candidate Donald Trump - They just don't get it.

Lochte:  "I want to apologize for my behavior last weekend — for not being more careful and candid in how I described the events of that early morning and for my role in taking the focus away from the many athletes fulfilling their dreams of participating in the Olympics."

Kellyanne Conway - Donald Trump's new campaign manager - said to my face this morning on the television:  "He has said that he wants to regret anytime he caused someone personal pain by saying something that he didn't intend to cause personal pain."  Continuing she added:  "This is exactly what people love.  They love humility.  They love accessibility.  They love authenticity."

I call bull manure.

Both of these weasels don't get it.  Not a whiff of humility.  No regret.  I guess mama didn't raise these two twerps to have any manners.

Sad.

The Big Apology

I wish to apologize.

Seriously - I'm not making this up.

Last year I gave my pal Braumeister a really, really, very hard time after I learned that he was trading his venison for lamb.  Pound for pound the wonderfully delicious organically-raised, free range, hand-carved Door Peninsula venison was being bartered for ordinary garden variety lamb.   At the time I figured this to be apostasy.

Somehow it seemed wrong to me at the time and I shared those mean views with one of my best pals.

In retrospect this was shallow and callous. I take it all back along with a dose of well-deserved humility.

Truth be told there are so many deer on the landscape now if someone wants to kill them and trade a portion of their share for lamb I guess I don't care. We need to thin the dang herd and if it is an inducement to kill deer and trade steaks, chops, roasts, kabob and burger for lamb so be it.

We're all in this deer management thing together.  Take a big buck if the opportunity presents itself, all the does we can and let the little bucks walk.

I've got a line on some home cured and smoked delicacies myself.  Will try to remember to bring some to turkey camp next week.
