    Early 1990s in April when I was in MN at Camp Ripley playing with Bradley Fighting Vehicles. A pair of wheeled vehicles got stuck in a muddy field so I was sent in their with my tracked BFV to pull them out. I got them out but when I was maneuvering out of the open field I hit a frost spoil and buried it in 3 feet of mud. Spend the next three hours with some shovels, a 12' log and two chains. You self-extract a BFV by digging by the front of each track, attaching the log to each track with the chains and driving forward with the log providing traction. It works great except it you have to then dig at the back tracks to unhook the log. Ended up covered head to toe in mud, but it was fun.
