I learned a new term via an online class I'm enrolled-in.
Greenwashing.
The process of conveying a
false impression or providing misleading information about how something is more environmentally sound. Greenwashing is
considered an unsubstantiated claim intended to deceive someone into believing
that a product, plan or decision is environmentally friendly.
At what point do we stop calling something a tiny home?
This one is
towed by a big Volvo semi-truck, carries a spare smart car, and at 300
square feet is bigger than a lot of urban apartments. Kimberley (the author of the article) notes it
is replacing a 5,000-square-foot home the owners say was much more
wasteful and extravagant, and it does have solar panels and batteries,
but that is one big truck towing it around.
I
live in a modest house that happens to be Energy Star rated. It will
likely be standing for decades and lifetimes long after this set-up is land-filled.
I
wonder if anyone has conducted a valid audit of this or if it's another
way for wealthy individuals to travel yet put-on appearances of green
living...
It's a trailer towed by a really large Volvo tractor for God's sake.
With the big fat carbon footprint.
