In case you missed it - When do we get to use the guns?
On Monday, Turning Point USA held an event during which founder Charlie Kirk took questions from members of the audience.
An attendee asked this (as seen in the video below).
At this point, we’re living under corporate and medical fascism. This is tyranny. When do we get to use the guns?
Members of the audience applauded.
He continued, No, and I’m not — that’s not a joke. I’m not saying it like that. I mean, literally, where’s the line? How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?
Once you've wrapped your mind around this rebuke of the Fifth Commandment and affront to all that is righteous and redemptive about the salvation found in Jesus Christ, I guess it’s not a joke. This dude is serious. He wants to know at what point he is allowed to begin killing people to defend The Big Lie.
That's right - a belief in the systemic murder of his countrymen who do not ascribe to his beliefs.
If you're thinking that this looks like the Taliban you might just be on to something.
It sure ain't your daddy's Republican Party anymore.
Go figure.....

There is a population of conservative, center-right and independent-minded voters who place a high value on facts and the truth. Marginalized because they do not demonstrate sufficient fealty and obeisance to the former guy - exile is their cross to bear.
Did you really mean to invoke the 5th Commandment....“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you", or ?
ReplyDeleteJust curious.
In the Roman Catholic tradition of the Christian faith the Fifth commandment is: "You shall not kill." This was the tradition in which I was raised.
ReplyDeleteThis commandment demands respect for human life and is more accurately interpreted as "thou shalt not murder." Arguably, killing may, under limited circumstances, be justified even within Catholicism. Faith is messy sometimes. No?
Honor your father and your mother is generally regarded in Protestant and Hebrew faith beliefs as the Fifth Commandment.
Regardless of the Fourth of Fifth ranking murder is an affront to the Lord Our God.
Unless, of course you ascribe to a belief system that in some aspects has many attributes of a cult.
This is not a new phenomenon - in American history or in the course of historic world events.
This dictum that absolute fealty and obeisance must at all times be accorded the Former Guy is puzzling. It has eroded and destroyed relationships, friendships and even families.
Of course, I've never worshiped a living person.
And it's inconceivable I'll start.
If it costs me my life - who do you think gets to heaven?
Closing thought.
ReplyDeleteI see the video has been taken down.
Good to see the interweb taking death threats seriously.
Things have really gone to hell in the past seven years.
