Sandhill

Got this picture from the camera posted north of the big pond and the creek.

Grus canadensis - Sandhill crane.

A stately and lanky bird that is one of the tallest of birds in the world.

We've enjoyed a pair that raised a couple of little ones this year.  The newborns are called colts (because of their long legs).

At this point we're only seeing the two adults and one of youngsters in flight...
