Canadian Ingenuity

A guy from Moose Jaw invented a really cool ice fishing gadget called The Dipstick.  It is an ice fishing beverage cooler.

Simply drill an extra hole and insert your Dipstick into the hole. It holds up to 12 beverage cans. When you pull a can out of the dipstick the next can pops up as the bottom of the Dipstick retracts to get your next icy cold beverage ready for you.  Your beverages will stay as cold as the water you are fishing in without freezing.

It is lightweight and compact and fits 6” to 10” holes.

The Dipstick will make your ice shack the place to be!

Nobody Here But Us Postulants

Not sure what the trigger is for this image in my head but every time I see a flock of lady turkeys moving thru like this it summons-up a vision of a solemn procession of nuns.  Technically known as a superfluity and not a flock.

Go figure....

Evening the Score

As I left for class this morning it was refreshing to note that the mail box had withstood the county plow assault last evening.

Snow Plow 1 - Mailbox 1

Score is even

Overseas Influence on the Household Cooking

Following our trip to Ireland I have become a wee bit more inspired to experiment with some cooking ideas encountered on our travels.  I found a couple of UK groceries on the web but was repelled from ordering anything as the shipping costs were greater than the cost of the goods.

Enter the Amazon solution.

And I have a start on some items you do not ordinarily find in your local grocery around these parts.

I hear that these fats make some awesome fried potatoes.  So, if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears...

Deer Movement

By now you already know that the guys killed seven deer during the opening weekend of the gun season.  Does to be exact.  We only saw a couple of spike and fork bucks and let them walk in the interest of slowing the growth of the local deer population and achieving a more optimal age/sex ratio.

It may very well be that the rut is on the downhill slide.  Small wonder as the antlerless deer continue to move about in daylight hours.

And the mature bucks move after dark.
