Yup. Mud season has officially arrived.
The snow is melting, the creek is flowing, the sump-pump is pumping, there is standing water all over the place and as the frost goes out of the ground the frozen turf is thawing. The mud and muck of the season is materializing.
As evidence of this I am delighted to report that the first red wing blackbird of the season was announcing his presence (loudly and clearly) from the top-most branch of my best apple tree. And a lone crane commenced a long glide onto the still-frozen pond at dusk.
And the blonde Lab got her first shampoo and hosing-off on the drive after gleefully rolling in all matter of thawing animal poo in the woods this afternoon.
Blech!
