Last fall I was preparing to run the brush hog thru one of the wildlife openings we maintain. I never did clear it (and may never again) as I discovered a bunch of little oak seedlings had sprouted there.
I certainly didn't plant them so it's likely the squirrels did in 2018 and they subsequently germinated in 2019.
What followed was locating about 30-35 specimens scattered-about with pin flags.
The flags are still there - although you may have to click on the image to catch a closer look. As spring progresses it will be interesting to see how many of those oak sprouts made it thru the winter without being eaten by the rabbits, rodents and deer.
