Friday Music

James Newell Osterberg Jr. - AKA Iggy Pop and Godfather of Punk Rock - was born just across the big pond in Muskegon, Michigan.  Well known for his flamboyant and theatrical stage presence early influences in his musical career included Jim Morrison, Mick Jagger and James Brown. 

Candy is a track laid-down on the album Brick by Brick – a duet with Kate Pierson of The B-52's - and was released as a single in 1990.  This tune was the largest mainstream hit of Pop's career – reaching the US Top 40 chart for the first and only time. 

In 2017, shortly after his 70th birthday, Iggy Pop was made a Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Consul general in Miami on behalf of the French government. 

After more than fifty years of performing he’s still touring…
