How appropriate that on the day following the Independence Day Holiday we found these blooming in the wetter areas along the trail.
Iris versicolor - Blue Flag Iris. Also called the Northern Iris this is a flashy and delicate native wildflower that propagates itself by means of underground rhizomes.
From the Greek Goddess of the Rainbow - Iris - this plant comes in a range and variety of colors.
