Friday Music

Composed by John Fogerty and recorded by Creedence Clearwater Revival this song was released in the spring of 1969.  The story is about a struggling musician who finds himself in Lodi – a nondescript agricultural town in California’s Central Valley.

Fogerty has admitted that he hadn’t been to Lodi prior to composing the tune – only that the name sounded ‘cool’.   Despite the town’s undeserved reputation as a dreary farm settlement Lodi makes the best of it.  The song's chorus, Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again, has been the theme of several city events in Lodi.

This is wine country and Lodi is known at the Zinfandel Capital of the World.  It also happens to be the birthplace of A&W Root Beer.......
