Friday Music

If you haven’t watched Ken Burns’ PBS Documentary about country music be sure to add it to your viewing list.  Eight two hour episodes seem insufficient - yet this series chronicling America’s own music roots will not disappoint.

In case you haven’t noticed I am partial to country – particularly the country and folk music that evolved in the 1970s and 80s.  This song is found on my personal lifetime Top Ten List and also enjoys the distinction of inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

The artists in this video trace their roots to performers including Linda Ronstadt, Ricky Nelson and the Flying Burrito Brothers.  Composed by Glenn Frey and Jackson Browne this song was recorded and released by the Eagles in 1972.  Glenn Frey – acoustic guitar, lead vocals, Bernie Leadon – lead guitar, banjo, harmony vocals, Randy Meisner – bass guitar, harmony vocals, Don Henley – drums, harmony vocals.

In their early live performances the group starts with a cappella version of a verse from Silver Dagger as the intro.  Crank-up the volume on your office workstation for Take It Easy….
