A View From the Crows Nest

I hunted a lot out of this deer stand this year.  It's one of my favorite stands.  Sturdy, spacious, and I've killed a lot of deer from here.  What's not to like?

It's the tall stand directly over the creek and affords a commanding view of the trails that run parallel to Silver Creek, the grassland and pond to the south and the woods to the north.

Although the woods to the north is crowded with far too many stems - I'm hopeful that this crowding issue will be resolved before too long.

Because of its height it does tend to expose a hunter to the elements.  Last weekend I earned a good wind burn.  And on a very gusty day you probably wouldn't like it at all.  Attached to four ash trees that have all grown together at the base it has a tendency to get a bit squirrley on a breezy day.

Here's a good panoramic view of the trail on the north side of the creek looking from west to east...
