Reports of turkey on human assault and turkey aggression are on the rise.
From the Washington
Post - If turkey-human conflicts appear to be increasing it’s likely a result of
urban and suburban birds not being hunted.
As a consequence the birds do not view humans as threats.
As a species turkeys are generalists that
easily adapt to the trees, lawns, gardens and golf courses of urban and
suburban America. Problems can bubble up
in the fall, when hens return from a summer raising poults and reunite with
their families with matters becoming more intense during spring mating season. Spring gobblers are pumped-up on testosterone
and looking to establish dominance over any competitor.
And if you can’t beat ‘em you may consider
joining ’em…
