Old Testament Metaphor

Throughout history flies are invoked to signify sin. 

The capacity to summon flies is purportedly considered the mark of the devil. 

Satan's lieutenant – Beelzebub – is the Lord of the Flies. 

So when that fly parked itself on the Vice President’s head for a couple of moments last night I almost choked on the irony of the allegory. 

When a clownish administration continues to blame shift and disavow the deaths of more than 211,000 of my countrymen in the short space of only nine months it is awkward to wrap your mind around this metaphor to old testament revelation.. 

The sleaziest Hollywood screenwriter couldn't make this up.
