Spuds

It is results like this that are evidence that a modicum of self-sufficiency is entirely within reach.

This is at least a bushel of German Butterball Potatoes.

Over decades of gardening I’ve grown Yukon Golds to Red Pontiacs and everything in-between.  A few years ago I settled on this versatile, all-purpose heirloom variety.

These spuds have a smooth golden skin and buttery-flaky flesh. You can fry, bake or crash them.  Use them in soups and stews. They make the best mash in the territory.

Bonus: Excellent storage qualities.

If you like backyard homesteading - potatoes are easy and prolific.
