The Garden Chronicles

One of the benefits of living on a peninsula is being surrounded by the moderating effects of large bodies of water.  We dodged a hard frost last evening.  Nevertheless, it continues to get colder as the days grow shorter.

So rather than take my chances with Old Jack Frost I pulled all the regular tomato plants out today along with both sweet pepper plants.

Check this out....

A half-dozen sweet peppers and seventy unripened tomatoes.  They'll keep in the relative comfort of the attached garage and the tomatoes will continue to ripen.

I left the yellow and red cherry tomato plants out there as they are absolutely laden with fruit that continues to ripen on the vine.  Still have to dig the spuds out of the ground and another bunch of carrots.

The dang deer have eaten the spinach and nibbled-off most of the carrot tops.

Pumpkins are in and will yield their seeds for roasting before too long.

On balance, it has been a bountiful year.

Vive le Jardin Magnifique!
