Having more than a month to shell unarmed civilian populations and reduce their cities and homes to rubble the Soviets now abandon their own dead to retreat, regroup and rearm.

They left their comrades to rot while they looted people’s homes and businesses. 

 

Yes, these lowlife abandon their own dead.

They have murdered bound civilians with a single shot to the back of the head. 

 

Including the murder of children.

They mine and booby-trap Ukrainian dead to kill and maim first responders and aid workers.

The rules of war:

• No targeting of civilians

• No torture or inhumane treatment of detainees

• No attacking hospitals and aid workers

• Provide safe passages for civilian non-combatants to flee

• Provide access to humanitarian organizations

• No unnecessary or excessive loss and suffering

Having violated every single rule of warfare it appears these Russian barbarians have demonstrated that cruelty and depravity is embedded in their DNA.

These ruthless communist savages do not belong in the G-20 or any other civilized global community.

This is the final slug of trail camera photos taken over the road killed whitetail that I dragged to this location.

Here's a juvenile and adult bald eagle...

And a couple of adult bald eagles.  It is thought that these birds mate for life; although they may switch it up with an alternate if unsuccessful at breeding.  A couple of weeks ago Jill took a photo of a couple of adults (these?) along with a juvenile perched in a cottonwood tree on the bank of Silver Creek...

Another photo of a juvenile and adult.  We've been witness to regular bald eagle sightings in the last few years.  A big improvement over no sightings around here twenty years ago.  My conclusion is there may be a nest located in the Brussels-Kolberg area or perhaps along the coast near-by...

Last photo to be shared.  You can see that the resident scavengers picked the whitetail clean.  Nothing but skin and bones remain.  This is a great lesson demonstrating the circle of life.  

I'm going to editorialize a wee bit.  If you have a road killed deer in a ditch close to where you live please slow down give the critters a break.  Just last week there was a local news item about an adult eagle that was struck and killed by a motorist as it was scavenging a road killed deer.  The person who killed the bird never reported it.  That sucks.

This song was composed by John Kay and Rushton Moreye of the Canadian-American band Steppenwolf.

Originally released on their 1968 album The Second it was the lead single peaking at number three in the US, and staying in the charts for 16 weeks, longer than any other Steppenwolf song.

The 45 rpm version is not only an edit of the album version, but contains a different vocal take on the first verse. 

Nevertheless, it is the preferred album version that continues to enjoy airplay on FM and today's satellite and streaming classic rock stations.

The history of April Fool's Day - or All Fool's Day - is uncertain and is the subject of no small measure of dispute.  Some attribute it to a chapter contained in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales where a vain cock is tricked by a sly fox with the date March 32 (April 1).  Another theory is that its origins can be traced 1582 in France with the adoption of the Gregorian calendar under Charles IX.   Heretofore, most Europeans celebrated the new year from March 25 - April 1 and the new calendar moved it to January 1.

News traveled slowly in those days and some people were only informed of the change after several years had passed.  Still others, who were more rebellious, refused to acknowledge the change and continued to celebrate on the last day of the former celebration - April 1.

These people were labeled 'fools' by the elites of the time and were the object of ridicule.  They were sent on fool errands including invitations to nonexistent parties along with other practical jokes. The butts of these pranks became known as a poisson d'avril (translation: April fish) as it is young and naive fish that are easily caught.  A common prank was to hook a paper fish on the back of someone's garments as a joke.

This harassment evolved over time and the custom of prank-playing persisted on the first day of April. This tradition eventually spread to Britain and Scotland in the 18th century and was introduced to the American colonies by the English and the French.  Because of this spread to other countries, April Fool's Day has taken on a decidedly international flavor with each country celebrating the holiday in its own peculiar fashion.

In 1996 the Taco Bell Corporation announced it had purchased the Liberty Bell and was renaming it the Taco Liberty Bell.  Hundreds of infuriated citizens called the National Historic Park in Philadelphia where the bell was housed to voice their righteous indignation over this corporate outrage. Their nerves were only calmed when Taco Bell revealed, a few hours later, that it was all a practical joke. The best line of the day came when White House press secretary Mike McCurry was asked about the sale. Thinking on his feet, he responded that the Lincoln Memorial had also been sold as well. McCurry claimed:  It will now be known as the Ford Lincoln Mercury Memorial.

Roadkill

 There nothing left of the road-killed whitetail now but skin and bones.  Nevertheless, there are plenty of trail camera photos yet to share so be sure to stop-by from time to time and check them out.

This is a juvenile bald eagle.  The large, distinctive hook beak is one of the characteristics to aid in identification of this bird in the field.  Juveniles gain the characteristic bald eagle white head and tail at 4-5 years of age.

This is a rough-legged hawk.  The raptor takes its name from the feathers that extend down the legs to the base of the toes - an adaptation to the cold environment this bird prefers.  This hawk is only seen here on the peninsula during the winter months with the southern-most extent of its winter range being the Texas panhandle.  Summer breeding range is the northernmost extent of Canada's coniferous forest zone and escarpment bordering the arctic tundra. 

Wile E. Coyote.  This canine has been tugging and dragging the deer carcass from here to there.
