Report From the Butterfly Ranch

Last weekend we still had some monarch butterflies flitting here and about.  This weekend - nothing.  The only insects in abundance were those nasty Asian beetles.  They bite and they stink!  And flies and more flies.  But I digress.  Jill follows the monarch migration online and near as we can figure they've beaten it out of Dodge for parts and places south.

Then I found this yesterday on the south-facing side of the garage.  

Gutsy butterfly the monarch is to wait this late...
