Composed by John Fogerty and released on Creedence Clearwater Revival's 1970 album Cosmo's Factory this was one of three singles from that album to rise to the top five on the Billboard Pop Singles chart.
In 2004 Rolling Stone ranked it 188 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Some have suggested that it is a thinly-veiled protest song about the Vietnam war. What I know for sure is that it was on the first vinyl LP I purchased and its a pretty good folk tune.
