So I'm sitting here on the porch enjoying a frosty Uff-Da
from New Glarus brewing with a couple of freshly shampooed and very tired
Labrador retrievers. It's mud season
after all and we cleaned out 36 more nest boxes this afternoon.
Fighting-off
sleep in the warmth of the spring sun the dogs and I watch the dark eyed juncos
hopping-about feeding in the turf and flower beds. These sweet little birds are rather
energetic while the dogs and I are feeling pooped.
Then it occurs to me that
these little snowbirds are only here for a short while. Transients they are. They’re winging their way north to their
nesting grounds in the boreal forests of Canada and the far reaches of the
Arctic.
Weariness is relative.
