Dark Skies

NASA

I recently blogged about the problem of light pollution and how it can mess-up your viewing of the celestial bodies on a dark night.  Tonight offers a terrific opportunity to venture outside if the skies are clear and cold.  That is because it will be darker as a consequence of the new moon.   A new moon is the first of the moon phases and it occurs when the moon is located on the same side of the earth as the sun.  Today is that day.  So, fingers crossed for an extra dark night.
