SpaceX Crew Dragon Test

Some of you readers may have forgotten – or been unaware – that the United States relies upon Russia to deliver crew to the International Space Station (ISS).  Today is an important day because a launch occurred early this morning that will hopefully eliminate that dependence.

At 1:49 AM CST a SpaceX vehicle called Crew Dragon was launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Flight Center in Florida. Within 10 minutes the capsule began its orbit around the earth and a planned rendezvous with the ISS tomorrow.

NASA

This is an unmanned mission and if successful will likely keep SpaceX on schedule for a manned mission in June.  Following the Dragon’s docking the ISS crew will off-load 400 pounds of supplies.

Check your local listings for a live broadcast tomorrow - March 3rd at 9:30 CST.
