If you are into star gazing you may want to keep your
fingers-crossed for cold, clear, viewing conditions this evening.
Cold winter
air is exceedingly dry – which leads all of us to slather-on the moisturizing lotion and
complain about itchy backs and those debilitating cracks on the fingers. Nevertheless, the upshot of the disappearance
of humidity is that it optimizes viewing conditions of the heavens after
dark. And with the arrival of the New
Moon tonight it is going to be very, very dark.
If you are fortunate-enough to live in a
rural setting the absence of light pollution will make your star-gazing opportunities
quite compelling. Hubba, Hubba.
And the added bonus to freezing-cold night skies
is the absence of mosquitoes.
Raising a
toast to the opportunity to cast your gaze to the heavens and soaking-up the
splendor of God’s universe.
