So, we hear (again) that the Russians have been meddling
with the 2020 US elections - intelligence informs that the Kremlin wishes to favor candidate Bernie Sanders campaign and President Trump's reelection. Makes sense to me if the Kremlin's desired end-result is the reelection of the Donald Trump What else is
new?
Nevertheless, it is instructive to note that the Russians have been pulling this shit for decades - just like the US has done. If you read your history you would be reminded that our own country has engineered coups, revolutions and meddled in democratic elections all over the world. That is what spooks and spies do. Sometimes I think the meddling is best left alone to the professionals to deal-with. Unless, of course, you're pretending to drain the swamp. In which case it is hoax - and only a bit part in the deep state conspiracy.
On the other hand if the career spooks are straight-up dudes then to politicize it as Trump is wont to do will eventually backfire as it weakens the ability of the intelligence community to counteract these efforts. And in the end it sows doubt and mistrust in the democratic system and plays directly into the hands of a certain former KGB officer clinging to his long-lost, cold war, post-Soviet glory.
