There's a binocular opportunity for you that doesn't require staying up late or dragging yourself out of bed in the wee hours of the morning.
Immediately after sunset tonight and tomorrow (September 4th and 5th) get yourself outside and cast your gaze to the western skies.
The waxing crescent moon will be poised above the western horizon to the lower right of our brilliant planet Venus. It will be visible to the naked eye; but a pair of binoculars or a telescope should bring it into closer view.
