Freebie Ends - Great Thrist Ensues
For as long as anyone could remember if you worked for Labatt - one of Canada's two largest breweries - you enjoyed a generous perk. Free beer for life. Yup, while employed and into retirement. In a recent development, Labatt - which is now owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev - is cutting the retirees-off.
How much free beer you receive depends upon where you live. If you live in Edmonton, Alberta you get a free case of frosty Canadian lager every week. But in a cost-cutting move intended to rein-in the over all cost of retiree benefits - including healthcare - the parent company is turning off the tap.
Sadly, the glass half full is now empty.
