I watched the talking heads on network television this
morning and came away with the impression that most reasonable individuals
would agree that the election outcome was not materially affected by Russian
hacking. Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and John
McCain made it clear that a bipartisan review is not with any intent to change
the outcome of the election – but rather to understand the nature of this type
of threat (regardless of where it originates) going forward.
It’s really a tad foolish for Donald Trump to
be worried about the optics of his election victory. Nevertheless it makes perfect sense that a
narcissist would place himself above country.
Patriots don't do this. If I had to hazard a guess he’ll continue to disparage our first line of
defense in the war on terror – our intelligence community. That’s sad.
In the meantime, Russia now has a better idea about what the United
States is capable of in terms of backtracking cyber-intrusion – Putin wins a
significant intelligence probe at little cost.
