Although the Platz warrior tribe left the bones
of their conquests as a warning, the deer invasion continued until all of the
trees were consumed.

But since
archeologists make half of their shit up, this interpretation also works:
Although few vessels for such drink were
found at the site, the haphazard arrangement of the bodies of their deer
sacrifice suggested that members of the Platz tribe consumed strong drink in
their attempt to curry the favor of their tree gods.
