Friday Morning Music

Originally titled The Sounds of Silence - this song was composed by Paul Simon over the period of months between 1963 and 1964.  It was recorded by Simon and Art Garfunkel and released as a commercial flop in 1964.  As a consequence the duo broke-up with Simon returning to England and Garfunkel to university.

In the spring of 1965 the song began to attract air play leading song producer Tom Wilson to remix the track and re-release it in the fall of 1965.  By January 1, 1966 the song was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

The duo reunited and the rest is history.

This cover by Disturbed is particularly awesome...
