Macerate. mac·er·ate - (especially with reference to food) soften or become softened by soaking in a liquid.
Last weekend my pal Sid whipped-up a couple of batches of homemade, rye whiskey Old Fashioneds from scratch. Yup, muddled and macerated fruit and whiskey as the base and finished-off with sweet, sour or soda along with a garnish.

If Sid appears a wee bit windburned it's because he spent an afternoon fishing on the bay.
More fishing ahead of us in a couple of days.
