This is an Eastern Phoebe - Sayornis phoebe - about the size of a sparrow it doesn't have any distinctive markings so I had to ask around for help in identifying it. My pal Eileen obtained a positive ID from a bird expert. It is more easily identified by it's call - fee-bee.
Feeding on insects this bird will alight upon a branch and when an insect passes it flies out to catch it and returns to the same branch. This behavior is called hawking. The Eastern Phoebe is common to Wisconsin and winters in the southern US and Mexico.
I think the bird crashed into the gable-end window of the room above the attached garage.
