Chores

I keep a record of events over the years and a year ago Jill and I cleaned nest boxes and sat on the porch and listened to the chorus of spring peepers.  Springtime was in full swing.

Not so this weekend.  It has been more like winter than spring with plenty of snowpack on the ground.

Nevertheless, the girls and I went for a walk yesterday and trudged through the snow to check on a couple of trail cameras and take-in the sunshine and 28 degree tropical temperatures.

We did manage to clean a few nest boxes along the way and the dogs delighted in rolling in the discarded contents.

This early model of my home-built nest boxes will be celebrating its twenty-second season this year.

That's a terrific return when you consider the amortized cost per use.

Hopefully, all of this snow will melt before too long and we can get along a bit easier.  I've been nursing a bum foot for a month and tall rubber boots aren't contributing to a recovery.
