This song by Wes Farrell and Bert Berns was originally titled My Girl Sloopy – originally recorded by The Vibrations in 1964.  The McCoys released their version Hang On Sloopy and it went to Number One in the US Billboard Chart in late 1965. 

If you are a college football fan this song has long been associated with Ohio State University following the marching band’s adoption of their own arrangement during the 1965 football season.   It continues to be played before the start of the fourth quarter of every Buckeye game.
